The cost of beauty treatments just got higher as the increase in claims for damage to property becomes clear.
The overall cost to insurers having to pay out due to spillages and burns come to around £1.4 billion over the past 12 months.
The Christmas and pre Christmas party season alone has seen many more incidents involving the burning of surfaces and carpets with hair straightners, this incident alone saw an increase of 5% in claims. The cost of fake tan application stains went up by 17% the cost of damage caused by hair dye was 11% and spillage associated with nail products went up by 8%. The incidents of damage caused by ‘killer heels’ also proved an issue for home owners who claimed they caused damage to floors and stairs. The bill for the run up to Christmas for damage caused is estimated to be £115 million alone.
Alcohol consumption drank during pre night out parties had a lot to do with claims as party revelers admitted to drinking more at home before going out to offset the cost of alcohol in pubs, bars and clubs. The cost to insurers for their customers claims for accidental damage to their property whilst drinking and socialising at home with friends has risen to £820 in the past year.
