The interior of a household is likely to have an increasingly important effect on the overall value of the property, a new study claims.
Findings from independent estate agent Spicerhaart reveal that property investors are increasingly basing their decisions on the state of kitchens, conservatories and loft conversions.
A poll of fellow estate agents shows that while luxury features like gyms and swimming pools are not essential, many houses under-perform if basic features are felt to be run down.
A 70 per cent majority of those polled suggested that the condition of the kitchen could effect the value of the house by up to £6,000.
'Although the housing market is currently a lot more buoyant, homeowners that want to achieve the full asking price on their properties still need to pull out all the stops as buyers remain very price sensitive,' warned Russell Jervis of Spicerhaart.
