Nearly one third of people in Britain are looking to invest in a second property in another country, according to new research.
A survey conducted by the Spanish division of the Halifax, Banco Halifax Hispania, found that people from the UK were most keen on the US as a location for a holiday home.
Nine per cent of those polled opted for the States, the same proportion of house-hunters looking for a property in Australia.
Spain was the third most popular destination, with six per cent of people heading there to create a second home.
When travelling abroad to investigate buying a new property in the sun, it is important that Brits remember to take care of their home in the UK.
It is essential to have a good home insurance policy arranged, to cover any losses or damage incurred while house owners are away.
There are a variety of different policies available to fit the needs of different homeowners and these can be searched and organised online.
