Uninsured property in the UK could total £810, according to new research, putting homes at risk on bonfire night.
AA Insurance is warning homeowners that if there is an accident on November 5th, without adequate home insurance, property is at risk.
The report points out that garden loving Brits are spending increasing amounts on beautifying their outdoor areas. Nearly two in three of Brits own a shed, while 19 per cent own a greenhouse.
However, 23 per cent of those polled said their garden possessions were not insured, and one in five didn't even know if they had garden cover.
With many people planning Guy Fawkes celebrations, AA Insurance says that this uninsured property could go up in smoke.
Kevin Sinclair, managing director of AA Insurance, says, 'The garden is an increasingly central part of our living space, all year round, but we have a worryingly cavalier attitude towards insuring the property outside our homes.
'Every year Guy Fawkes celebrations wreak havoc in gardens across the country, so we need to make sure we've protected our outdoor property.'
