Homeowners are being warned of the need to protect their homes from over-eager 'trick and treaters' this Halloween.
Lloyds TSB Insurance says that following October 31st last year, insurance claims for property damage rose by 150 per cent.
It is warning Brits to check that their home insurance policies are up to date, so they can recoup expenses if there is any damage to their homes tonight.
Some of the more bizarre claims that homeowners submitted last year include windows shattered by broomsticks, a carpet stained with blood (fake, hopefully) and wallpaper ruined by egg yolk.
Phil Loney, managing director of Lloyds TSB Insurance said: 'With 'trick or treaters' out in force at Halloween, a rise in claims for malicious damage to our homes might be expected.
'It is so important to check that you have insurance to cover your home if the 'trick or treaters' strike.'
