First direct has announced that it is to offer a 12.5 per cent discount to customers who buy their home and car insurance by the end of 2005.
The HSBC-owned financier says that this offers consumers an 'even more attractive' incentive to buy its home insurance policies.
Research carried out by Consumer Intelligence earlier this year found that most consumers could benefit from switching their home or car insurance policies.
It claims that the average Brit could save £157 on their car insurance and £145 on their home insurance by swapping to first direct.
Customers who sign up to first direct's benefits package, Firstdirectory, before the end of December will receive £20 cash back.
Firstdirectory offers exclusive member benefits and travel insurance.
