Members of the ABI (Association of British Insurers) have today expressed their commitment to providing adequate home insurance cover to those in flood risk areas.
Following the government's announcement to complete flood defences within five years, the ABI now says insurers are in a better position to make home insurance available to households where flood prevention plans are in place.
Around 100,000 homes across the UK are in line for improved flood protection over the next five years as a result of government investment, including areas in North Yorkshire, Hampshire, and Nottingham.
Stephen Haddrill, the ABI's Director General, said: 'This is good news for the millions of homeowners and businesses who rely on insurance for financial protection from the cost of flooding.'
If you live in an area of high flood risk, it is advisable to take out adequate home insurance cover.
Bad weather can strike at any time, damaging both the inside and outside of your home, so home insurance is essential to safeguard your investments.
