Parents up and down the country are tearing their hair out, as their children cause thousands of pounds worth of damage to the home, says a new report.
Research from Barclays Insurance Services claims that some parents are left questioning whether their children deserve a visit from Santa, because of the amount of chaos they've caused in the home.
The most common cause of complaint was spillages from food and drink, with 23 per cent of parents experiencing this.
Broken windows, ornaments, sofas and beds were also common in households with children.
Just under half of those polled said their children had caused damage at home, and one in ten parents admitted that their offspring had cost them between £200 and £1,000 in damages.
These figures reiterate the need for households to protect their home and belongings with home insurance cover, in case of an accident.
Adrian Grace, managing director of Barclays Insurance Services added: 'It is impossible to keep an eye on young children all of the time and accidents such as spilt drinks or broken windows are inevitable.
'It is therefore essential that parents have adequate home insurance, particularly to cover accidental damage to help minimise the cost of replacing household items broken or damaged by their children.'
