Lloyds TSB is taking extra measures to ensure that help is at hand for home insurance claimants affected by the recent flooding.
All those in Carlisle with home insurance policies with Lloyds will have access to on-the-ground staff available to monitor levels of damage.
Lloyds is also making immediate cash payments on claims by customers who have suffered serious loss and need emergency accommodation and supplies.
Phil Loney, managing director of Lloyds TSB Insurance, explained: 'With UK homeowners facing the harsh realties of flood damage and with further news from the Environment Agency that people living in flood risk areas are failing to protect themselves, it is vital that they take precautionary measures to protect themselves and their homes.'
Lloyds has also brought in extra staff to man the phone lines so as to deal with the increased number of claims.
It is calling on its customers to make sure that they know exactly what their home insurance policy covers, and that their policy is the right one for them.
