Mint has announced reductions on its home and motor insurance.
The financier is to offer a 15 per cent discount on the first year of home insurance and a ten per cent discount on motor insurance when purchased with home insurance.
Mint claims that its decision to slash rates is a direct response to the Met Office's recent warnings of a cold winter ahead.
Features of the home insurance policy include cover for fire, lightning, theft and other events that can damage your buildings and contents.
It guarantees to cover damage on DVD players, TVs, hi-fis and home computers and carries a new for old policy on items.
Mint's home insurance also offers cover for your freezer contents (up to £250) and will replace door locks if your keys are stolen (also to the value of £250).
Jerry Toher, managing director of Mint said: 'Mint is delighted to announce its move into the insurance market that further illustrates our commitment to developing products best suited to the needs of our customers.
'With the predictions of a long and cold winter, homes will be more susceptible to emergencies such as burst pipes.'
