Brits find comfort in a number of different luxuries during the cold winter months, and most of them revolve around the home.
According to a new survey, one of the top ways to beat the winter blues is to sit and have a good old natter with friends.
Enjoying a decent glass of wine was another, and a hot bath also came in the list of best things to do.
Men and women's ideas of what constitutes comfort differed slightly, with men preferring to watch a movie, and women favouring a shopping trip.
Nick Jones, head of Post Office homephone said: 'It's amazing how quickly freezing temperatures, long nights and winter rain can dampen our mood.
'Our survey shows that the simple, inexpensive things such as making a phone call or watching a movie can really help lift our spirits.'
The Post Office's survey reveals that the home becomes a place of refuge during the winter, a place where homeowners can go and take comfort when it's cold and dark.
Home insurance is therefore vital to protect your most valuable asset, and buildings and contents insurance will protect every part of your property.
