The Christian bible might command 'love thy neighbour', yet for some Brits, next door's excess noise is making that hard to do.
In a new poll by the Post Office Home Insurance, nine in ten neighbours claim they have been affected by neighbour noise.
Banging stereos were the top bone of contention, with 42 per cent claiming to have been affected by next-door's disco.
This was followed by barking dogs, raised voices and DIY.
Most Brits are generally forgiving when it comes to the odd moment of noise, and over half of those polled said they were happy with their neighbours.
Head of home insurance at the Post Office, Phil Ashkuri said: 'The best way to avoid upsetting your neighbours is to resist turning up the volume too late at night. And, if you're bitten by the DIY bug, try to fend it off until after ten in the morning at the weekend.'
As they say, the home is the Englishman's castle, and it is important to protect both its inside and out with home insurance.
For example, if you are doing DIY and have an accident, your home insurance policy should cover any damage caused.
