Dorset police has begun a major crackdown on violent crime in Dorset following a 15.9 per cent increase in public disorder offences last year.
Homeowners in the area have been forced to check their home insurance policies following the recent crimewave, as they have been at risk from burglary and muggings.
The six-week operation hopes to repeat the success of last year when arrests for violent crime increased by 22 per cent, writes BBC News.
"We want to increase the detection rate for violent crime to at least 55 per cent," said Adrian Whiting, Dorset Police's assistant chief constable.
He added that the Dorset police force would not tolerate any violent or thuggish behaviour.
Home insurance is an invaluable asset, as some policies protect belongings even when they are not in the home. For example, if someone is mugged some policies will cover the theft of any goods and it is an obvious advantage in the case of burglary.
Students about to depart for university may also find that their belongings are covered by their parents home insurance.
