Anyone without a decent home insurance policy would be advised to start looking for one, with what is being called the 'flood season' now almost upon us.
The Environment Agency is launching a campaign to awaken complacent householders to the danger posed by flooding over the next few months, in a move that will surely cause an increase in the number of people seeking new home insurance policies.
The good news is Norwich Union is now close to completing its nationwide flood mapping, it can offer most householders a quote on their home insurance policies, the Observer reports.
Jill Boulton, a flood expert with Norwich Union, suggests that 'probably 40 per cent of flooding in this country comes from drains'.
Norwich Union now estimates that an extra 800,000 people across England and Wales can now take out a home insurance policy when they could not previously.
As the threat of flooding has increased over recent years, the need for a good home insurance policy has become far more apparent, especially after the £1 billion of damage caused by flooding across 700 locations across England and Wales back in 2000.
