With September nearly upon us, many students will be heading off to university, either for their 'fresher' year or as a seasoned student.
Whether students are moving into halls for the first time, or moving into a house, the importance of insurance for their belongings cannot be stressed enough.
Insurancesupermarket.com is advising all students to ensure they have adequate cover, especially as their belongings can be high in value with items such as laptops and iPods.
This doesn't have to be costly, as some students can extend their parents home insurance to cover their belongings while away from home.
'Students can add their possessions onto their parents’ existing home contents cover, said Richard Mason, director of the website.
'Several of the big insurers including Norwich Union, Lloyds TSB and More Than offer this option for no extra charge.
'The cover includes up to £5,000 worth of possessions or 15 per cent of the sum insured on the parents’ policy,' he added.
