One of the best things about Christmas are the parties that are held up and down the country.
According to Lloyds TSB Insurance, however, this year four in five Brits are choosing not to hold parties in their homes, for a variety of reasons.
Its poll revealed that many homeowners are worried about the financial implications of holding a party, with the expense of holding it the biggest discouragement.
Around 15 per cent said that they feared damage to their home, suggesting that if you are holding a party this festive season, make sure your home insurance is up to date.
Phil Loney, managing director, Lloyds TSB Insurance commented: 'With the risk of damage to carpets, curtains and furniture increasing when spirits are raised, more and more of us are unwilling to add the cost of domestic repairs to the final bill for Christmas celebrations.
'However, if you are planning to host a party there are some simple things you can do to reduce the risks of wine being spilled and tears being shed. Ensuring your home contents insurance is in place can help safeguard your property and your wallet if things do get messy.'
